President Viktor Yanukovych stated that Ukraine may join a common economic area with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan only on the terms of the World Trade Organisation.
"We are very far behind this process. Moreover, Ukraine has become a member of the World Trade Organisation. Today, accession of Ukraine to this union is possible only on the terms of the World Trade Organisation," Yanukovych underlined.

He stressed that Ukraine would like its neighbours to become members of the World Trade Organisation as soon as possible.

Earlier first deputy head of Ukrainian Presidential Administration Iryna Akymova has ruled out the possibility of Ukraine joining a Common Economic Area with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
