Ukraine invited EBRD into joint gas transport consortium

Ukraine hopes for the participation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the modernization of the gas transport system, information department of the Cabinet of Ministers Secretariat said.
After the meeting with executive director of the EBRD in South-Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Olivier Decamps, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that one of top-priority tasks of the government is the reformation of energy sector, in particular, the monetization of the gas transport system. Azarov also said that the Cabinet of Ministers is interested in bank's participation in it.
Decamps said that the EBRD is Ukraine's partner and is ready to cooperate in different fields, in particular, development of infrastructure and energy sector. Decamps added that on the whole the energy saving is one of top priority trends of co-operation. The director also said that the new stage of the bilateral co-operation is positive for further relations between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund.
